After a long stay in Chicago, Alex Watkins is returning to the Blue Ridge to enjoy the peace, beauty, southern hospitality and all of the biscuits. She came to Chinese Medicine through her own path to healing, beginning her journey with yoga, nutrition, and meditation. Alex was inspired by the breadth of conditions Chinese Medicine can treat safely and effectively by focusing on the body’s innate ability to heal as well as the way it can encompass each individual’s unique needs.  In school, Alex interned at Chicago Women’s Health Center, a co-op clinic specializing in creating safe environments for minority and LGBTQ+ communities.   In her post graduate studies, Alex pursued an additional 2 year training in classic herbalism and acupuncture for pain relief. Alex brings a level of compassion and mindfulness to her work and strives to aid each of her patients through education and empowerment.

Outside of the clinic, Alex is very excited to spend a lot of time hiking in the mountains with her husband, Seth, and dogs, Java & Peanut.  She loves to cook, garden, and sleep in!

“These people have changed my life. Alex is amazing and does such a good job. I was incapacitated by fibromyalgia pain and taking 7-10 [pain]pills a day. Now I take 2 or 3 a week and am in far less pain.” – BH

“Alex approached my healing with small dietary changes, Chinese herbs, moxi[bustion], and acupuncture – I appreciate the different modes of treatment and have found some significant improvements in my health. I would highly recommend Alex.” – JB

“Alex worked with me and my specific situation with a combination of treatments… the dietary therapy, herbs and acupuncture all tailored to my symptoms and situation.”

“I was amazed and shocked at the quick results, within two weeks I felt dramatically better than I had for almost a year. I was reminded that there were no “quick fixes” but the results were dramatic and quick – I was thrilled, after being “sick” for over 8 months consistently without any signs of improvement, this was wonderful.”

It has now been just over four months and we have continue to maintain the changes with still small improvements and better health. ” – SJM

“I met with Alex and went to her for about six weeks of treatment. She is so much fun to talk to and is great at teaching you all about what is going on. I learned so much about the body, and each time I left I felt incredible. I did some herbal treatments as well. I enjoyed that process and seeing the reactions my body had to that treatment.” -WJ

The community aspect of it is awesome. It is totally cool being in a room with others. Once the needles are in, you zone out, so whatever!” – RG
